A Call for Authors

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to announce that Greenwood Press has decided to expand the Series Food Culture Around the World to another 9 volumes, bringing the entire series to 23 in total. I have a number of authors lined up for some of these titles but there are a few remaining, and some still in negotiation. I am looking now for authors of Food Culture in Central America, Scandinavia, Portugal, and possibly Greece. There might be a few others as well.

These are reference works of about 70,000 words which would be due in 16-18 months, meant for students rather than specialists. They cover the historical background, ingredients and cooking methods, recipes, holidays and celebrations, eating out, diet and health, and various other related topics. I am looking for authors either with extensive experience writing on these topics or academics with a PhD, and of course a deep interest in food studies.

If interested, please contact me directly off list at: kalbala@pacific.edu

Yours, Ken Albala

P.S. I am also still looking for authors in other series, namely African-American Food Culture and a few other food titles. So if you have an idea that will work as a reference book, please also send them my way. Greenwood has been encouraging me to solicit new ideas as well.

P.P.S. Do share this message with anyone you like.
